We recently had the opportunity to work on an exciting project for a prominent water company in the South of England. This bespoke solution involved the design and installation of four special Variable Speed Drive (VSD) panels, equipped with ABB low harmonic drives to ensure energy efficiency and reduced electrical disturbances. These drives help to improve power quality and optimise system performance, which is essential in large-scale industrial applications.
One of the key features of this project was a custom-designed 90-degree ramp, specifically engineered to allow easy removal of the VSDs for maintenance in confined spaces. This innovative addition improves accessibility for engineers and ensures that ongoing servicing and repairs can be carried out safely and efficiently, reducing downtime and keeping operations running smoothly. Design elements like this play a crucial role in maintaining long-term reliability and ease of use.
